Parking in the Faroe Islands
Have you ever stood in front of a parking sign or a traffic sign and had doubts about whether you were allowed to park or not? Then you are guaranteed not to be alone. On this page you will find rules and good advice that will hopefully make the signs easier to understand in the future.

If you dont pay the parking fine at the local police station, we will charge you 500 DKK
What do the clocks mean?
- If the times are in black or white writing, the time applies to weekdays
- If the times are in brackets, the time applies to Saturdays
- If the times are written in red, the time applies to Sundays and public holidays.
What do the arrows mean?
- If the arrow points upwards, the parking sign applies from the stand itself to the next intersection. If the arrow points downwards, the sign applies from the stand and backwards to the previous intersection.
How to place the parking disk when parking
Parking in time limites parking
The parking disc is placed at the end of the block in which you start parking. If it is 10:10, you must set the hand to 10:15
Parking outside a time-limited period
If you park outside a time-limited period, and if you plan to remain within the next time limit, you can choose for yourself whether you want to set the parking disc to the nearest neighborhood upon your arrival, or whether you set the parking disc to the time for the start of the time limit
While parked
Please note that the pointer of the P-disk must not be moved during parking at times with time restrictions. You must therefore not move the pointer without moving the car.
